Sign in with Apple

Spilled uses Sign in with Apple as the only sign-in method. There are no passwords, no email/password forms, no third-party logins.

Why only Apple:

  • Privacy. Apple Sign In lets you sign in without ever giving Spilled your real email address.
  • Security. Apple handles authentication, so we never store passwords.
  • Simplicity. One tap to sign in. No remembering passwords.

About Hide My Email: when you sign in, Apple gives you the option to share your real email address or use a private relay email (a random anonymous address that forwards to your real inbox). If you choose Hide My Email, Spilled receives the relay email and we use that to contact you. We never see your real email. You can revoke access anytime in your Apple ID settings.

We support both real email and relay email exactly the same. Pro features and support work identically.

A note on what signing in restores: your account and your Pro subscription are tied to your Apple ID, so signing in on a new phone brings those back. Your journal entries are different. They are stored on the phone itself, not on our servers, so they do not come back just by signing in. To move your entries to a new phone, use the backup feature first and restore the file on the new phone (see "How to back up and restore your data").

If you ever want to change which Apple ID is connected to your Spilled account, sign out and sign back in with the new Apple ID. Note this creates a new Spilled account (your previous entries stay with the previous Apple ID's account).
